Since 2005, the Interior Grasslands Cycling Club (IGCC) has promoted road cycling for fun and fitness in Kamloops. With over 70 members, the club includes people of all skill and fitness levels, from beginners to advanced riders. New members are welcome!
Competitions start this week
On Thursday this week (March 26), the first race will be held (the popular 16 km TT on the Westsyde course). The calendar has already been updated for most competitions through to August.
As in previous years, we need volunteers at each Thursday evening event. Usually two people are needed to do time keeping and two people to do marshalling. More will follow regarding volunteering. As for last year, volunteers will receive points which will apply to their season’s race standings.
Informally, groups have been meeting and riding from of Riverside for the last several Sundays. Our group rides start this weekend (March 22). The calendar will be updated as rides are planned. Tuesday evening rides will continue, similar to last year.
New this year, we’ll be organizing out-of-town rides on some of the great roads within a (relatively) short drive. We’ll kick off with Sunday, April 12, Blind Bay/Notch Hill.
Membership (IMPORTANT, NEW INFORMATION)
Club memberships will be the same as last year, except that we’re moving to an on-line membership registration and payment system. This will give you an opportunity to pay for the club’s membership at the same time as a Cycling BC membership.
Alternatively, as in previous years, you can download, print and mail or hand over the two forms, with your payment. If opting to use this method, then please download these forms (IGCC 2015 Registration form and waiver).
As a reminder, club members will also need a Cycling BC membership with provides the required insurance. There are several license categories depending upon the racing you intend to do. The minimum for IGCC club events is the Club Associate Membership (affiliated to a BC Club) for $40. If you think you might also participate in events at other clubs in BC you will need the BC Citizen License for $45.
We’ll let you know as soon as it is available to order.
Board of Directors
The 2015 board of directors is available on the website. We thank Doug Paeth, outgoing member of the board, for his contribution to the club in 2014.
If you have questions or comments, please feel welcome to contact a director.
We’re going to have another excellent season.
